What we do

Everything on this list is work we do every week in houses like yours. If what you need isn't here, ask anyway. If it's small, that's the point.

Panel inspections
A look inside your main panel: breakers, connections, grounding, signs of heat or water. You get a straight answer on what's fine and what needs attention, and why. When it's worth having one
Outlets, switches, GFCI and AFCI
New outlets where you need them, dead ones brought back, GFCI protection in kitchens, baths, garages and outdoors, AFCI where the code calls for it.
Lighting and ceiling fans
Recessed lights, fixtures, dimmers, under-cabinet and porch lighting, and ceiling fans hung from boxes rated to hold them.
EV chargers
A dedicated 240-volt circuit and a Level 2 charger in the garage or carport, sized to what your panel can actually supply.
Troubleshooting and repair
Breakers that trip, lights that flicker, outlets that went dead, a burning smell you can't place. We find the cause instead of guessing at it.
Generator inlets and transfer switches
A proper inlet and a transfer switch, so during a shutoff you can run the well pump, fridge and furnace from a portable generator without extension cords through a window.
Panel and service upgrades
Replacing a worn or undersized panel, or bringing in a larger service, when the house needs more than it was built with.
Remodel wiring
Kitchens, baths, additions and garage conversions. Circuits planned with the rest of the project, not squeezed in after the drywall.

When a panel inspection is worth it

The panel is the one part of the house most people never open. These are the moments it pays to have someone look.

You have a Zinsco or Federal Pacific panel

Common in homes built from the 1950s through the 1980s, and both brands have a long record of breakers that fail to trip. If the label on your panel says Zinsco, Sylvania-Zinsco or Federal Pacific Stab-Lok, it's worth knowing what you're living with.

You're buying or selling

A home inspector will note the panel but usually won't take the cover off. An electrician's look before closing tells a buyer what they're taking on, and lets a seller fix a small thing before it becomes an escrow negotiation.

Your insurer is asking questions

In wildfire-rated areas, insurers are asking more about older electrical. An inspection gives you a clear answer to put in front of them instead of a guess.

You're adding an EV charger or heat pump

Big new loads need room in the panel and in the service. Checking first is cheaper than finding out halfway through an install that the panel is full.

Send a photo of the panel label with your request and we'll tell you up front whether it's one to worry about.

Built for where we live

Nevada County loses power. Public Safety Power Shutoffs in fire season, winter storms, a tree across the line. A generator only helps if it's connected safely, and a lot of houses up here were wired in pieces over decades.

Ready for the next shutoff

A generator inlet on the outside of the house and a transfer switch at the panel let you power the circuits that matter, with the generator outside where it belongs and no back-feed onto the utility line. Tell us which circuits you can't do without and we'll size it from there.

Older houses, honestly assessed

Cabins that grew into homes, additions from three different decades, aluminum branch wiring, panels that have been full for years. We work with what's there, fix what's unsafe, and tell you plainly which is which.
